I have NO idea I would ever on the radio, much less have it be my career! I wanted to be an airline pilot, after a stint in the Air Force. However, I was listening to a college radio station one summer afternoon, and they mentioned they needed help, and their studios were in my neighborhood, so I stopped by to see if there was something I, as a percocious 14 year old, could do. Well it turns out they had a blind guy that did afternoones (foreshadowing?), and they needed someone to pull his music and read his news.
Next thing I knew I was working at my "dream" station in my hometown of Little Rock (yes, Arkansas).... and with all the guys I had listened to throughout school.
Then I got jobs in Jackson, MS, Dayton and Cincinnati, OH..... then here in Chicagoland. But I finally got good enough to get the fall from the mighty 1023XLC, to come play with the amazing crew here.
So there you have it; I never became a pilot, but I love to fly. But I'd rather play Lake County's Best Variety... and have fun with our audience. Thanks for listening....reading this... and being part of 1023XLC!
